This is a part of a room devider. It is braided. This part looks like a twisted flower. You can put the parts together
into a small or big room devider.

This is a part of a room devider. It hangs down from the ceiling and can divide a room. The room deviders can be put up for privacy or as wall decoration.

The individual parts have 6 corners and look like flowers with 6 petals. The petals turn around the centre like a whirlwind. The whole room devider consists of 33 of these parts. But you can also make it smaller. Then you need fewer parts.

Each single part is made from the branches of a willow tree. The designer Monika Nickel-Stein has cooked them with iron rust and walnut shells. Then the twigs become soft and you can weave them. Then they look almost black. Monika Nickel-Stein is a master basket weaver.

If you put the parts together, you get a 3-dimensional figure. 3-dimensional means:
The figure has a height and a depth. Then the figure looks like many whirlwinds that are turning.

If you shine light onto the room devider, it creates interesting shadows. In 2019, Monika Nickel-Stein won an important prize with the room devider: the State Prize for Arts and Crafts in the federal state of Rheinland-Pfalz in Germany.
