The technology of this mobile phone was completely new.
The writing aid made it famous.
It is called T9.
The casing was made of metal.
Around the year 2000 mobile phones from Nokia were very popular and successful. This was partly because you could play the video game Snake on it.
The Nokia 8850 had important technical features. The T9 key was completely new. It helped users to type texts faster. This T9 writing aid automatically completed words or spelled words correctly.
The earlier model of the Nokia 8850 already had coloured covers. You could even change the covers. This made it very fashionable and Nokia became very popular.
The Nokia 8850 had a casing that lasted a long time. Because it was not made of plastic, but of aluminium. Aluminium is a metal.
