You can run very fast with this sports shoe. It has a special sole. This makes it easier to roll off the ground.

The name of this sports shoe is: Air Zoom Alphafly NEXT%. It is also called Alphafly for short.

The design of this sports shoe is special: It has 2 air chambers made of thick foam fabric. Air chambers are small empty spaces in the sole. These air chambers make the footing very soft and cushion the steps. This makes it more flexible than earlier models. There is also a plate made of carbon fibres in the sole. This carbon plate allows the foot to roll better.

With this shoe, Eliud Kipchoge ran the marathon in less than two hours. The marathon is a race of about 42 kilometres. Eliud Kipchoge is an athlete from the country of Kenya in Africa.

Some athletes believed: Eliud Kipchoge was only so fast because he had the Alphafly shoe. Many people in athletic sports thought that was bad. Athletic sports include, for example, running and long jump.

That is why the World Athletics Association has decided: • All athletes must have equal chances. • How should a sports shoe be made? • New sports shoes have to be in the shops for 4 months. Only then can they be used in a competition.

The Alphafly sports shoe could only be bought after Eliud Kipchoge won the race. But then so many people bought it that it was only available for a few hours. Even today, it costs almost 300 euros.
