Chair "Solid. C2"
Solid.C2 is a special chair because a 3-D printer made it. A 3-D printer is a device that made this chair from plastic.
3-D is short for 3-dimensional. The chair is not a flat object, but it sticks out into the room. A computer program makes the plan for the product that the printer will print in 3-D.
The designer Patrick Jouin from France designed the chair. It is made from plastic bands. They look like the designer arranged them randomly. Usually, a designer starts by making a model of an object. The model can be made from cardboard, for example. But Patrick Jouin printed the chair directly with the 3-D printer, so it took less time to produce the chair.
No material is wasted for the Solid.C2. It is made from several layers. When you print a chair, it looks as if the chair grows. You do not need any tools for that. Each chair can look completely different and exactly how the clients want it to look like. In total, there are 30 pieces of the Solid.C2.
