The Pinakothek der Moderne presents the exhibition
Mindful Meaning.

To be mindful means to pay attention to the present moment.
The title is supposed to show
that simple things can be very beautiful.

In nature and around us, there are many things to discover
that we normally do not pay attention to.
But artists give these things a new meaning.
This is exactly what the young artists
from the Kookmin University do.

They work in a similar way as miners
who search for valuable metals and minerals.
Whatever the artists find in nature,
they turn into artistic objects.
These finds from nature then become
new objects for our everyday lives.

Students from different parts of South Korea
work at Kookmin University.
At the Department of Metalwork and Jewelry,
they get a good education, and they learn their handicraft skills.

The students then develop completely new ideas for jewellery.
At the same time, they follow styles
that are currently popular around the world.
This way, the students create insightful and

surprising artworks in the form of jewellery.
