Opening: Where the Wild Lines are. Books and Illustrations for Children

Children’s books tell more than just stories. Through their distinctive narratives, but above all through their diverse and unusual illustrations as well as individual styles, they appeal to children and adults alike.

The exhibition presents around 180 children’s books from over 25 countries. It draws on the museum’s collection, which has collected and exhibited international children’s books from the very beginning, and spans the period from the end of the 19th century to the present day.

Large-format wall drawings by Berlin illustrator Christoph Niemann and an interactive exhibition architecture by Munich interior designer Carina Deuschl reflect the themes on display and create a space in which books can be experienced by people of all ages.

Speakers:
Prof. Dr. Angelika Nollert, Director
Dr. Caroline Fuchs, Curator

The event is held in German.
There will be simultaneous translation into German sign language.
