With “2 × 68”, the Bröhan Museum is focussing on the impact of the ’68 movement on design after 50 years.

Jablonec ’68. The East-West-Jewelry-Summit

The exhibition is part of the double exhibition “2 × 68”.

In collaboration with Die Neue Sammlung the Bröhan-Museum dedicates an exhibition to this unique moment in the history of studio jewelry and for the first time since 1968 will display works that were created at the time.

Due to the Prague Spring of 1968, jewelry artists from eastern and Western europe alike were able to follow the invitation of the Czechoslovakian Artists’ Association to come together in the North-Bohemian city of Jablonec nad nisou for the first summit of european jewelry artists; artists that today are celebrated as the originators of studio jewelry. In the course of the four-week symposium, they created exceptional and visionary works out of silver, glass, slate, and semi-precious stones.
Half a century after Jablonec ’68, seventy pieces of jewelry will be displayed that the Muzeum skla a bižuterie (Museum for glass and jewelry) in Jablonec nad Nisou has preserved until today.

Double Up!

The new exhibition on the ground floor continues the partnership between the Neues Museum and the Neue Sammlung. Art and design meet, complement one another, and multiply the ways of looking at a theme: design objects, sculptures, photographs, paintings, ceramics and textiles enter into correspondence and shape new content:
