Since 2010 every year Die Neue Sammlung invites a well-known jewelry class to present their work at Pinakothek der Moderne alongside with Thomas Gentille – a doyen of artist jewelry. After exceptional exhibitions made by the classes of the Royal College (London), the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design (Prague), Ädellab / Konstfack (Stockholm), the Academy of Art (Munich) and the Hiko Mizuno College (Tokyo) the Metal and Jewelry Course of the Oslo National Academy of Arts is invited to be on stage in 2016.

Born 1936 in Mansfield, Ohio, and a resident of New York since 1960, American Thomas Gentille is a leading studio jewelry artist not just in the United States but in the world as a whole. To mark his 80th birthday in 2016, Die Neue Sammlung decided to invite the co-founder of studio jewelry in America to stage the first comprehensive exhibition on his oeuvre.
KONSTANTIN GRCIC: THE GOOD, THE BAD, THE UGLY

The internationally-renowned, Munich-based designer Konstantin Grcic is the opening participant in a new venture, launched this year by Die Neue Sammlung. Every year, a well-known designer will be invited to present his or her work in a show intended to complement the unique architecture of the Paternoster Room.

The Danner Rotunda illustrates the stylistic appoaches of more than one-hundred jewelry artists from the world over. For the first time one of the most varied contemporary forms of artistic expression has found a permanent home in a museum of this kind, in the interdisciplinary context of art, architecture, graphic art, and design.
